iCloud sync all the time.

I got problem iCloud sync issue with my 2023 16" MBP. I got 22G on iCloud, but only use few files daily, maybe 20 -100M updated. However, it sync 22G nearly everyday and all the time. and it take so long time to complete sync then I can use the file. It's happened since this May I think and cause lot of problem. Is there idea what's going on and what I can do for it?

I don't get that. I just "moved" a file to my (iCloud Drive) Documents folder, and that's sure not very fast. (I'm at a cafe using their wifi while I have breakfast.) Nonetheless, I can open the file and work with it immediately.

The file isn't "moved" to iCloud; it's copied. So the files in my iCloud are also on my Mac at all times. iCloud synchronizes our files so they are available to our iPhones and iPads and all our connected devices. There is no waiting. This is the beauty of iCloud!

On your Mac, you see a file in a place called "iCloud Drive," but that's really just a folder on your Mac that shows what is also in iCloud. When you move a file to iCloud, it's just moved to the folder that gets copied. The file is still on your local drive, but in a different folder.

One more thing: If you choose "Optimize Mac Storage" in System Settings>Apple ID>iCloud, then files you don't use very often may be removed from your local drive to save space. In that case, a little used file may take a bit to open. I don't use "Optimize Storage." I'd rather save space by keeping seldom used files on an external drive.

iCloud sync all the time.
