downgrading to free iCloud storage - what happens to your (sync-ed) computer data?

Hi,

I want to cancel my iCloud storage plan (1TB) but my concern is how iCloud acts when you downgrade.

All my MacBook Pro photos (200GB aprox) are synced with iCloud.

Once I downgrade to the 5GB free iCloud storage, I assume the data on iCloud will be deleted but...does that mean the data on my computer (=those 200GB) will be deleted as well?

Since iCloud is a sync service, does it have access to erase the data that was synced locally in my MacBook Pro?

Thank you,

Andrea

If I remember correctly, you will have 30 days to download/remove your data from iCloud, and then it gets deleted.

But, even Apple tells you that you should download or remove any content that will exceed the new, lower, storage capacity:

Downgrade or cancel your iCloud+ plan - Apple Support

Archive or make copies of the information you store in iCloud - Apple Support (CA)
