Oticon hearing aids blue toothed with iPhone 14

I have Oticon hearing aids blue toothed to my iPhone 14. Not sure what has changed with iPhone or whether the most recent software update has caused this 17.6.1. I now don't hear my incoming phone calls in the aids as well on the phone. I've tried various setting changes and most recent being hearing everything only through the aids with Accessibility / Hearing Devices / Audio Routing / Media Audio / with Always Hearing ticked, I hear only through the H Aids with no external voice or ring tone audible (which is not ideal for others who need to be included in the call)...or if I choose Never Hearing..... I am then back to not going through H Aids at all and no audible call /ring through my H Aids. Hearing the ring tone/ call come through my H Aids has been hit and miss since owning Oticon blue tooth aids for 12 months ...but now this recent glitch is more than frustrating. To answer the phone call the usual way now presents with the choice of a headphone icon and sometimes a blue tooth symbol appears in it's place. By the time I actually get to answer the call, the caller is wondering what's going on at my end. (Added to the above I have Call Audio set with Always Hearing. Any help/solution please would be gratefully received....thanks in advance.

Keeping the iOS on your iPhone updated to the most recent version was a good step.

However am wondering if there is a firmware (or app) update available for the hearing aids model you use. If you use an app with the hearing aids, you could check the app for info on updating, or, if you wish, check with your hearing-aid specialist, the hearing-aid manual, or the manufacturers help/support webpage for how to keep the firmware updated.

If the firmware is already up-to-date:

Maybe try the tips in Apple Support's online article:

While on a call on iPhone - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"Adjust the audio during a call

To change the volume, press the volume buttons on the side of iPhone.

Or swipe down on the call banner, then do any of the following:

  • Mute: Tap the mute button." (NB: make sure that mute is not on)
  • "Put the call on hold: Touch and hold the mute button.
  • Talk handsfree: Tap the audio button, then choose an audio destination".

All the best :-)

Amazing how letting go of a problem often seems to help solve it. If you wish: you can check whether your particular Oticon model is one of the "Made for iPhone" models in Apple's list:

Cheers :-)

Thanks for your reply/help. Firmware is up to date and checked by hearing aid specialist...and yesterday when I asked this forum for help....I had no normal function of hearing aids when blue toothed to my iPhone....today however it all works well and I haven't changed any phone settings to achieve this.

I gave up after reading several comments from other folk who asked for help, accepting that iPhone 14 and Oticon hearing aids are not always a good match.

My phone works normally when not connected to hearing aids...and since getting these new aids a year or so go...it's been a bit hit and miss with them working whilst connected with my phone.

I will however try the suggestions offered if blue tooth hearing aid connection runs amok again. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.

Thanks so much for advice given.
