Apple Motion: How do I stop an animation and then use the same objects in their current position for a new animation?

I'm trying to recreate the Battle of Marathon.

I need to stop the first series of animations and then start a new series of animations from that current position. If I could copy and paste to the current position and remove paths that would be great, but I can't seem to separate the objects (spearman) from the paths.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, would it be better just to learn Adobe After Effects for stuff like this?

It would really help if you can provides us with more information about this project.

You mention paths. Can you please explain? I think you might be referring to the motion path behavior, is that correct?

It will also help if we can see the layers window and also to know what assets you have used to create your scene.

Just from the content of your question, I am assuming you have layers animated along a motion path.

Just from that alone - if you want to have the layer travel and then stop and then resume the traversal along the path, you can make use of the custom speed setting, as show here:

With speed set to custom, you can now keyframe the traversal from 0 to 100.

I recommend that you practice with this feature in another project file before attempting to revise your current project.
