Uploading photos to iCloud on my MacBook Air has stalled
Hello, recently I have made a decision to transition from Google photos to iCloud+ in order not to pay for two different subscriptions and the process of migrating the photos has proven to be more difficult than I thought.
My process:
- Download all Google Photos using Google Takeout into series of 10GB .zip archives
- In Photos selecting File->Import and choosing to import all the photos from unziped folder
- All the photos import successfully to a local Photos app
- Photos app is set to "Optimize Mac storage", some photos were transferred to iCloud however the process quite quickly got stuck in the following state for several hours without any progress:
- I turned off all battery optimization options, rebooted computer several times, updated all the software, checked multiple wifi access points and left the computer overnight plugged in and logged in, however the progress didn't change at all (Stayed at 8012 items left)
I am really disappointed right now because the app doesn't provide me any information for what is wrong. It is really an unacceptable behavior and makes me sad that I am paying for the iCloud+ subscription (I might consider going back to Google who knows)
