Why is Apple News showing subscriber-only news stories?

I'm an Apple News subscriber. Why am I seeing more content that requires a subscription to the originating news provider? I'm seeing it mainly with the Washington Post. It's frustrating to select a headline in Apple News and then hit a paywall. Is there a way to hide all "subscription required" content without blocking the WaPo channel altogether?
