I would like to create a smart playlist that is everything in my usual playlist, but not the explicit material.
I would like to play it when I am doing a car trip with kids, especially a car trip with my kids and their friends and I am uncertain of the sensibilities of the newcomers.

I don't know of a way to to create a smart playlist that excludes explicit material.
If no-one else replies with a way to do this:
You may want to send a feature request to Apple, and if others also want this feature we may see it in an update!
They will likely not reply, yet your request will reach those who can make changes.

You can set limits and restrictions for what you want to manage — on your own device or a child's device.
