iPad Pro 11” freezes when using Magic Keyboard

After a few minutes use of my iPad Pro M4 with the Magic Keyboard, the iPad freezes. I can still move the keyboard cursor around but it has no effect. If I detach the iPad from the keyboard, the iPad remains frozen and requires a complete reboot. My software is up to date.


I see this is a fairly common issue. Any solutions?

Given your description, you might be best advised to seek assistance directly from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page.


Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases from Apple devices using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

You might also visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad and Keyboard - and you can explore your available options:

I don’t have a Magic Keyboard, but I thing how frustrating this might be, as this seems like a common issue without a resollution.

Does your iPad get frozen if you’re using it for hours without the Magic Keyboard?

Does your iPad ever get hot when it freeces? If so, that’s a very big trouble.

Try to do a DFU process using a computer, or, if you don’t have one, ask someone else to do it for you.

If after the restoration the problem still persists, your iPad or your Magic Keyboard might be experiencing a severe fault, take it to an Apple Store to get it replaced, the iPads can’t be repaired.
