I have a large number of music loaded on to my Mac over the years, along with music purchased from Apple. If I sign up for the Apple music, will these items remain "mine" since they were individually purchased?

The official answer is yes. However, people who discover (or think they have discovered) that the Apple Music subscription messed up their local library are frequent on this Forum. Make a backup before you begin.
