I've watched a content in tiktok that ios 18 should not be installed or updated on the iphone devices that has been repaired from a third party vendor?
Once you update the iphone device to ios 18 you can't use your iphone device anymore.
Is this true?

uhhm no, it just bothered me, because my device was repaired by a third party vendor and this tiktok content creator claimed that he is a trusted tech content creator, that said, I somehow believe what he said regarding not updating the repaired devices to ios 18 because you'll not be able to use your phone anymore.
But since, I was part of the apple community. I'd better seek credible information here rather than trusting his content about the ios 18 update on repaired devices by a third party vendor.

You can see on YouTube and TikTok that the world is flat too. TikTok is hardly a reliable place to get iPhone information from. There is nothing which has been publicly published by ANY reputable sources that iOS 18 should not be installed on devices which have been serviced by third parties. The fact a device may have been serviced by anyone other than Apple of an Apple Authorized Service Provider, does make it ineligible for support for the device from Apple directly.
Yes, I did. after the update, it was working smoothly without any issues encountered because I waited for the official ios 18 version not the BETA once.
I highly suggest for you to do the update on any latest version of ios by using the official ios versions and not the BETA. To prevent issues after the update.

I got a used iPhone 12 from an online store, upon setup it said unknown display and battery.
This seemed to help me:
The warning messages for unknown battery and display did not appear (yay)
Under repair history for the phone the display and battery are listed as unknown, but OK I think

iOS 18 supports Activation Lock on iPhone parts. So I suppose it might not be a good idea to run iOS 18 if you know that someone has repaired your iPhone with parts from a stolen phone.
