Nope, there is no supported way to go back to iOS 17. For specific changes for such things as Control Center, it is now completely customizable, If you have not used any of the new features to customize the look, you should start here:

Photos app is also now completely customizable. In addition to changing the size of the thumbnails on your screen, you can also review the steps here to customize it along with additional information on viewing your photos. If you do not like the Photos app, there are many other options available in the App Store, so the choice is yours there which one would meet your needs.

You now see bigger emojis because users had previously complained they were too small and send feedback to Apple. You can do the same and maybe they can make the size adjustable. In any case, Apple won't see your post here, so the place to do that is with this link:

You can expect a change in iOS every year as that has been the standard upgrade schedule. If Apple never made changes that added new features to iOS, users would complain that Apple is not being innovative, and when changes are made, then users complain they didn't want any changes. We saw the same complaints when for years there were no changes to the Calculator app as users demanded more features. It really is a no win in either case, and would recommend that if you don't want to see any changes, then make sure to not update when you see the new version available.

I guess, But I’m clicking on slideshow first on a video I like in a small folder, there is no option of having the videos audio only either muting it or having rubbish music over the top. I really liked the magazine style they had in the last update. It would zoom in on the person and have a nice fade into the next video but I guess they took that out.

I was talking to multiple family members this morning, all of whom use Apple IPhones and the photo applications daily. We are all so upset by the changes in this latest version and would ask to go back to the last if we could. What was easy and comfortable to navigate for each of us with different ages and styles of use is now a royal pain. Some popular functions that were one touch or two touches now require extra steps in a way that is more like google website- many don’t like. I’d like option to go back.

Photo library is beyond annoying with this update. Sure hope Apple pays attention to these complaints and does something about it sooner than later. And please stop with all the auto suggestions in the photos... I don't need your suggestions anywhere because I can actually think for myself. I go to search for something that I am specifically searching for and Apple is too busy making suggestions of what I should do and taking up screen space. Why can't tech people ever just leave well enough alone.....

It just seems like some changes are made just for the sake of making a change and don't necessarily improve the ease of use. When it makes something more complicated and time consuming to figure out then it is less user friendly for the average person. I get that changes are needed but sometimes it is just too much at one time and feels like we need a class to figure it all out again. Maybe I'm just getting too old for technology to be my friend. Thanks for feedback link... i was wondering where that was!

When iOS 17 came out, some people said "Please fix this Apple! I would love to have IOS 16back, it was a perfect version. " When iOS 16 came out, some people said, "Please fix this Apple! I would love to have IOS 15 back, it was a perfect version." And so on.

There are probably still people out there who are grumpy that Apple made any changes from the original iPhone.

And now we are ready for when iOS 19 comes out, it will be iOS 18 that was the best version ever and should have never been changed.

What is it when you do the same thing over and over and expect different results?

This update has ruined the phone visually and ruined the functionality of it. Can I go back to my pre-iOS 18 interface? Navigating photos is awful, the number on top of the on screen notifications is pointless and I simply don’t like it. I’ve used iPhone for years as they are simple and straightforward to use, this is the biggest advantage of the iPhone and they’ve taken it away. I am seriously considering moving to android unless they revert back to how things were laid out before.

I’d like to rêver my iOS setting. The question is my « why change something that was working with something that doesn’t »? Why????

i have never been dissatisfied with any iOS update in the past and I had iPhone for 15 years.

this 18.1.1 update is the most stupid thing I’ve ever seen. It’s like having to learn to use a completely different operating system.

For me it’s not about the “change”, I love my 11xr , I updated to make it easier to send a text message later. I probably don’t know know how to use many things but it was great for my needs. I updated, was maybe running ios 14, not sure, and now it constantly freezes, I got rid of any junk I could find which seemed a little better but again it freezes up constantly. Took me half an hour just to type this out.

Is there anything I can do?

Two things:

  • Force Restart the phone - It may take a couple of attempts to get the key sequence correct and the last step of holding the side button until the Apple logo appears could take up to 15 seconds. Ignore anything else on the screen during that time.

Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

  • What do you have showing for your Battery Health at Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging?
