Nope, there is no supported way to go back to iOS 17. For specific changes for such things as Control Center, it is now completely customizable, If you have not used any of the new features to customize the look, you should start here:

Use and customize Control Center on iPhone - Apple Support

Photos app is also now completely customizable. In addition to changing the size of the thumbnails on your screen, you can also review the steps here to customize it along with additional information on viewing your photos. If you do not like the Photos app, there are many other options available in the App Store, so the choice is yours there which one would meet your needs.

You now see bigger emojis because users had previously complained they were too small and send feedback to Apple. You can do the same and maybe they can make the size adjustable. In any case, Apple won't see your post here, so the place to do that is with this link:

You can expect a change in iOS every year as that has been the standard upgrade schedule. If Apple never made changes that added new features to iOS, users would complain that Apple is not being innovative, and when changes are made, then users complain they didn't want any changes. We saw the same complaints when for years there were no changes to the Calculator app as users demanded more features. It really is a no win in either case, and would recommend that if you don't want to see any changes, then make sure to not update when you see the new version available.

The calendar and photo settings are horrible. If I zoom in in 1 photo, the next photo comes in the background on top of the current photo…!

Also, calendar doesn’t get updated quickly. I know I have an appt on 3rd Oct but unless I click on the date, the blue text doesn’t show!

it’s a shame, that this new iOS update is a step back.

The settings looks compact, even with the use of 135% text.

The called number IDs have become too large and I see the entire name saved!

All my AirPod settings have vanished!

with all these updates, I can’t figure out the basic ones also!

It's really bad on my phone. I'm actually overseas now and it doesn't now interact with apps I need to live here. In like 30 years I never thought to leave but seriously considering an Android. I just got the new darn phone this year though. But might be worth it. This is terrible for anyone who is prone to seizures or has any medical issues, the way they changed the background and photos app. It's hard to even look at.

Yeah like I’m crying now trying to figure out the photos stuff cuz I loved it the way it was and my adhd autistic brain isn’t liking this. Do you know how to take music off of the slideshow thing? I did the slideshow a week ago and I really liked what I made using the magazine one and on a loop, but they’ve got rid of those and I’m freaking out. They shouldn’t change something that’s gonna change everybody’s photos because surely other people have made albums with the curtain style they like in the editing part of it. You know what would be really good if they could create having loops on videos like the only way to get a loop is to create a slideshow, but now I can’t do that because there’s annoying music in the background and I can’t hear the video.

It’s not a matter of not liking change. It’s a matter of how you use the camera roll. I had photos all organized, as well as a couple thousand transferred from my pc in albums and now they are all together in one big library. All my organization is gone, as well as my ability to tell which photos I’ve already transferred to my pc. I’ve had no problems with other updates. I usually like getting new features but I hate losing functionality.

I agree. Hate it! Hate it! Hate it! Worst update ever! Changing the background settings is bad.

I usually have it on dark background with white text. Easier for me to read. But now it changes my app colors dark making “them” harder to see. (plus they distract from the wallpaper photo).

If I change it to light background, it’s blinding and changing brightness doesn’t help see any better.

If I do “smart invert”, it changes videos, photo ID and emojis to where it looks like a negative. (not regular photo though) weird.

I’m trying the Per-App option but it’s not really helping on everything needed.

As far as photo library, I have mine neatly arranged in albums. Granted, the albums are still there, as is the “recent” photo category, but the format is a step back for sure.

The password app is a waste of space in my opinion.

I think there should be an option to revert to previous IOS version if desired.

I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS UPDATE!! It’s enough to make me consider going back to android!! I can’t find my photos albums or photos, hate my apps on a black background, etc Who thought shrinking the photos to search and select or changing the albums was a good idea? It’s like someone found something unnecessary to work on to keep their job!! Allowing No more **** updates!!

Hum! this is software dude, anyone can dislike a new software version or app interface, it is not a matter of accepting any change so nobody "categorize" the other as a "resistant to change". Suggesting to read a book to understand "how to accept the change" just for a new software version seems too much. The question was "how to downgrade iOS 18 rather than "how can I accept the change" jeje.

I’ve seriously been in tears over this upgrade. I can’t edit ANY photos and save them, and when I try to permanently delete anything it all just comes back! I’m out of storage because of this. Why do I have to pay to NOT be able to even use my phone anymore???? Battery drains in under an hour now too. Is Apple not fixing this????!!!

I guess, But I’m clicking on slideshow first on a video I like in a small folder, there is no option of having the videos audio only either muting it or having rubbish music over the top. I really liked the magazine style they had in the last update. It would zoom in on the person and have a nice fade into the next video but I guess they took that out.
