iOS 18 bug in Apple Music app

after updating to ios18 i have encountered a bug when using apple music. Whenever the phone opens or closes or when the screen turns on due to a notification, the music pauses for a good 3-5 secs and same when screen goes back to sleep. Also when playing music using apple carplay, when i use my phone or when the screen turns on the same delay is there and the music sound deteriorates badly. The sound is completely off and i can’t listen properly unless the phone is put back to sleep. I need apple to release a bug update soon or any solutions as i can’t use my phone like this

Guys I figured out the issue. As soon as I turned off vocal shortcuts the bug stopped.

I contacted Apple support, and they advised me to reset all settings, which I did. Unfortunately, the issue still persists as you described. We're definitely losing our subscription money due to a problem we've never encountered before. I hope they release an update to fix this soon. I encourage everyone to reach out to Apple support and report any issues as they arise; this will help prioritize their fixing efforts.

What VPN's were causing the issues for you? I can't even upload any new albums from iTunes onto my iPhone now. Deleted two VPN's from my iPhone that were inactive and my voice vocal shortcuts were already turned off. I just don't get it. And don't get why Apple doesn't respond to help with people.

hi, that was one of the first things i tried but nothing changed. Its a very annoying bug and i use apple music almost all day long which really hampers my usage.

My friends, a smart soul discovered the simple fix! It took me a week to get to this, and I nearly went mad with all the solutions I tried, but here it is, as mentioned elsewhere in this thread: TURN OFF VOCAL SHORTCUTS. This will resolve 95% of the problem. There still may be a slight pause when turning off the display, but you can now open other apps and put Spotify or YouTube, etc. in the background seamlessly. Just updated to iOS 18.0.1 thinking all the Music app problems everyone and myself

have been experiencing since updating to 18 (huge download lag times, playlist

add timeouts, playing/forwarded songs taking forever) would solve all our

issues, and it didn't fix anything!!! What is going on?!

Since iOs18 update, noise cancellation on my Airpods Pro 2s has been ineffective.

Interesting, I don't have vocal shortcuts turned on, so this is not the fix for me.. Does anyone have another suggestions as its annoying to have to keep starting my music after every notification.

Yeah that vocal shortcuts "fix" isn't really a fix for the ios 18 Music app issues. It's way bigger than that.

I never had this setting enabled on my phone. But the issue persists even after doing Reset All Settings as guided by Apple Support !!!

My Apple Music app is downloading songs separate from the albums that their supposed to be in and I don’t know why, it also bugs out and freezes when I play music
