Apple Music issues after iOS 18 Update

Has anyone experienced issues with Apple Music in iOS 18? For example, audio quality lowered despite Dolby Atmos and EQ off? Or trying to scroll through your playlist and the app crashes?

Right I’m having issues not only on my phone but on my laptop which is weird since my music was playing fine yesterday albeit crashing when I tried opening the queue. Like why music literally is my whole lifeline & I’m not for the Spotify commercials (SongShifted playlists to send to friends). I’ve never had issues so bad with the music app😭

I started a thread about how my Apple Music was instantly crashing when I tried to move songs around in playlists on my M3 iMac after upgrading to 15. Still doing it after 15.0.1 upgrade. If I try to drag a song from the main playlist window, to another playlist window-pow! just disappears. Only 3 or 4 people seem to be having that problem. Glad I don't stream A-Music on my iPhone! I have enough problems!

I'll give them until iOS 18.1 which I assume will be out by the end of October. If that doesn't fix everything, I'm off to Amazon. I know Apple won't miss my $124/year but I have invested more than just money into Apple Music and have been very happy with it til now. If it becomes just another semi-functional app and money pit, well, there are lots of other options.

Well after two weeks of syncing normally, practically all my songs were eaten again.

this is getting absolutely ridiculous. The primary reason I got an iPhone instead of android was because of my music library being tied to then-iTunes/now Music. Why am I continuing to do this if the core basic feature for my choice has a failure rate akin to throwing a couple of loaded dice?

I’m still using iTunes on my laptop to sync with my phone as the three replacements (Music, Devices and something else?) just didn’t want to play. Devices could see my phone, but wouldn’t sync. Music wiped all my music and playlists and I had to restore everything from my dying old laptop. I reverted to iTunes and although it won’t sync over Wi-Fi, it does work when connected via cable. The trouble is the Windows 11 version of iTunes on my brand new, super fast laptop takes about ten minutes to load, the Windows 10 version on my decrepit, falling apart at the seams (literally!) old laptop takes seconds to load and still syncs over Wi-Fi.

Almost a month now with these problems and nothing from Apple! The thought of dumping my iPhone and getting a Samsung or Google is growing stronger each day this lasts. The music app is worthless at this point....what I am paying for?! And Apple's complete lack of acknowledging all of this is very frustrating and disappointing....perhaps Amazon Music Premium is in my future???

Naturally, like everyone on here, I “hope” they have fixed this. It’s concerning that many of us seemed to have experienced different problems. That leaves me wondering exactly what it is that they may have fixed. This blunder and then the failure to confront the problem more openly have left me questioning my devotion to Apple devices and their ecosystem.

Not Music related, I know, but I have noticed that since iOS18 my phone keeps on switching to ‘driving mode’, even when I’m nowhere near my car. This is annoying because driving mode is supposed to mean it sends automated responses to WhatsApp and Messenger messages to say I’m driving and will be in contact when I reach my destination, and similar with phone calls. If it’s doing this when I’m sitting in front of the tv at home …. I’m going to attempt to turn off that functionality, wish me luck.

Many users may not use the music app or, if they do, may not pay enough attention to notice the many problems recited here. But for the hard core user, Apple has caused some significant damage to its brand, but not simply by screwing up the app. Sure, everyone drops the ball once in a while. What goes on in this tiny device I can tuck in my pocket is a miracle, and Apple properly earned a lot of credit for that. But to leave those of us for whom this app is important in the dark, wondering whether they have even recognized the problems, much less starting working on them, is customer service malpractice.
