Apple Music issues after iOS 18 Update

Further to my previous post that 18.1.1 has made no difference - yes it has, the battery now drains at a ridiculous rate. In the last 20 minutes it’s drained 15%, 2 of them while typing this post. It’s done this every day since 18.1.1 installed. This is where I need a shaking head in hands emoji.

Apple music not playing in vehicle since 18 update. It starts but immediately stops. Reset and restarted device still not playing.

all seems connected and vehicle can text etc through car play..Glitch!! Fix!!!

Yesterday, Nov 27, 2024, I was manually syncing music from my Music Library on my MacBook to my iPhone and it was working fine. Then my phone said it needed an update, so I let it do that, then music syncing quit. I can find the music in my Library and on my computer in Finder, but when I try to drag it to my connected phone, nothing happens (it used to start syncing and a circle appeared and gradually filled in as the sync progressed, no more...) Its like the phone is not really connected to the computer, but it is in the Devices list....

I also tried the sync function, and I checked that Music knew where my music files were in Finder. Also fails to sync anything.

Apple used to be so reliable, not very much any more.

Me too. Possible that the installation is still running in background which keeps it from doing its normal functions. I have three devices. One says it's got 18.1.xx, and I get one of my emails about every couple of hours. I get about one email per hour on that one, far lower than the normal rate. I caught the other two cued up and ready to install, so I stopped those installations, and the devices still work. But this is all speculation based on the small amount of information. Apple should inform us about such, but looks like they won't.

This just further shows the inconsistencies of the Apple bugs.

If I highlight a song under "Songs" from under the iTunes Library and do a two finger click on my mouse pad, I get the option to "Add to Device", amongst other options.

My iTunes library in my iMac seems to have corrected itself to some extent, but I still have many albums that are simply missing songs for no reason what-so-ever.

I still don't have any interest in using iTunes now even on the iMac due to the fact that it is still corrupted, pretty much. My iPhone and iPad are completely corrupted.

Exact same issues I have, except I seem to have even more.

On a side note, hopefully you are not deep into Apple's HomeKit (home automation), because it's another disaster. Many people have no issues, but just as many have nightmares like we are all going through with iTunes.

Yes to all of that and more! This going on for almost three months now since initial 18 update and the three after haven't done a single thing to fix this. The Music App is broken! Apple needs to refund us all for three months!

Navigating through your music is way more slow and laggy. One thing that also really annoys me - since the update, if you select a song to play next, you can't move it into a group of songs that is already playing. I would just let playlists or all my songs play on random, then think of a song I wanted to hear, then see a song coming up I wanted to hear it next to and move it there. Now you can't do that - if I select "Play next," I can add other songs to also play next, but I can't move them into the set of songs that are already playing, and I can't move anything up from the songs that are coming up to be next to the songs I want to play next. A small thing but really annoying - why take away functionality that was nice to have?

I noticed that since updating over half of the music on my phone is gone, playlists are empty or missing large portions of songs and I am unable to reload them from my Mac. I have tried syncing several times and manually loading the missing content to no avail. It seems every time there is an update it doesn't go smoothly last all. Getting really tired of all the issues that come with every update. Come on Apple. Do better.

I’ve had the same problem and every album is now called Christmas.When I go to me iPhone I cannot get the music to download.Come on Apple sort out you bloody updates and make sure they work before you issue them.

I had hoped 18.2 would solve it, but no. My battery also drains even faster - dead after 3 or 4 hours - and they now “sort” my emails into groups, and 850 have gone missing. Yes, I know, I’m a bit behind, but I can still see them on my laptop, so at least they haven’t been deleted!

I also found that email “grouping” feature to be extremely annoying but figured out you can turn it off! Just go into your email inbox and click the “…” on the top right corner next to the “select”

This will give you the option to toggle between emails showing up in “Categories” or “List View”

You will want to”List View”

I’m a subscriber (not sure for how long at this time) and, while my problems are different and less severe than those many are experiencing, this debacle is not a driver for Apple to get more subscribers. If anything, it is costing them subscribers. In fact, at least in my case, it caused me to cancel my plan to replace my iPhone 12 with an iPhone 16.

Just left a nice note on the Apple feedback site. I'm sure they're diligently reading it now(can you hear the sarcasm?). I've updated to 18.2.1 with no resolution. This has been too long. Not sure if anyone has found a resolution but I hope they fix it soon. Getting ready to find a third party fix.

Well updating to 18.2.1 wasn't a good idea, it's bricked my phone. Just been online to Apple Support for over an hour and they have no solution and suggest I go to Manchester or Liverpool to the nearest Apple store.

Maybe it's time to go back to Samsung?
