Why is there no music/sound in my CarPlay video recordings?

I had the same issue, but with AirPlay..I casted music via Spotify to my Homepod mini and recorded video. Video has no sound. Applied W/A and sound is in place for new videos, but lost for already recorded 🤬

OMG THANK YOU! This worked!!! I wish I only knew this a week ago 😭 My daughter recorded the sweetest video of her experience, after she spent all day on her birthday giving to the homeless, and it has no sound to it.

Setting your audio recording to MONO is a much less desirable workaround, not a FIX or a SOLUTION. Having to change the settings to MONO, changes the recording quality for all further recording until it is changed back. ALSO, who can possibly catch something in the spur of the moment when you first have to go to Settings and drill down to audio recording settings first?

This is a BUG and it needs to be fixed. End of story.

Any solution to the videos already recorded with no sound while on CarPlay? It’s ridiculous as it doesn’t tell you it’s not going to record sound. I have lost sound on all footage of my children in a drive through safari and it is just not acceptable.

I, too, suffered this same problem: I lost one-of-a-kind audio from videos I made while driving with my daughter. I DID discover a solution that will ensure this travesty never happens again. I just bought a Samsung phone. Bye, bye, Apple. I had my first Mac in 1991—an LC—but after 34 years, I am GONE. Changing my laptops, changing my phone. This trouble with the video missing because of Carplay was not the only problem I've had with Mac products in the last year and a half. I just have no faith in Apple products, anymore.

I upgraded last night and tried to take a video of my kids while parked in the school parking lot today. No audio.

Same. I’ve been trying to mess with all the settings I can think of but haven’t had any luck. Still not getting any audio on videos I record in my car.

Yeah it’s so weird. I’ll be making a video to send to a friend and everything goes great until I get in my car. There’s no audio after that

Whenever I try to record a video while I’m driving and talking, after I play it back, there’s absolutely no sound at all. It’s been like this for at least two months and I cannot figure it out.

Here for the exact same reason. Had recorded a beautiful moment with my 2 year old daughter singing while on AirPlay. Trying desperately to recover the audio 😕

I’m having the same issues! I recorded my baby’s reaction and interaction while my phone was on carplay only to find out there was no audio on any video at all. 😭
