Edit button missing on my photos in iPhone post iOS 18 update

Ok so I found the edit. But what I can’t find is when I go to post a pic on my social media there used to be an option on the bottom of the photo to change the file size. Now it’s gone. Therefore many of my pics I cannot post because the file size is limited and my pic file size is too large. Ugh. Anyone???

Ok so being in a chat with apple for like 2 hours. Those squiggles lines did nothing for me. So this is what I found out. Double tap photo like you normally do. You will see markup on the top right. At the bottom of markup you will see a + sign. Hit that and you see a text button. So hit that and you see bold, size. BUT when i text I can’t change text size or other details. Then if you try to move the text sometimes I get a streak of color from the mark up. Best of luck and if you out how to change text please reply!!!!!

I did the 18.2 update. Mine just shows perpetually loading. I have clicked everything looking for a new way to crop. It lets me enlarge the photo and then offers a crop button but then is once again in a perpetual loading state. Apple fix it! My side hustle is suffering because of it. It will not let me take Live off either. I also like to order my own photos. Please revert back to the old version for older phone users. It makes me want to move to a regular camera - even though this one has great clarity. Then I won’t have to worry about updates messing up my photo editing.

Even though the squiggly lines show edit, it's not the same edit. I can't crop. If I crop at the top or bottom it narrows so the photo is cut in width. Also,, I can't find any of my photos. They're all over the place.

placorte ~ It sounds like you need to Unlock Aspect Ratio in Crop mode – tap the 3 dots at upper right:

This doesn't work. If I crop from the bottom up, my photo narrows, and I lose half the people. Cropping vertically also crops horizontally at the same time and it won't widen. Same if I crop from the top.

This update is a total disaster I’m using iOS 18.2 (22C152) the edit option in photos is gone. I keep reading here to get to “markup” (sounds like the committee in congress getting ready to add 12 tons of pork to a bill) there is no longer an edit button the sliders are greyed out. It’s ruined my phone.

my photos are in an unhinged mess I can’t find anything without scrolling forever. Nothing is in any order even recently downloaded photos are not in any order it’s completely helterskelter

The people on the team that mangled this project need to be fired the people that approved it should be publicly humiliated and banned from the industry

I ONLY update my iPhone for security purposes now I think I’m going to stop doing even that. The baggage that comes with the security is not with it. Photos worked fine it should have been a separate optional update. Had I known what it was going to do I would have never downloaded the update.

id keep downloading the security updates but stop most everything else. You are making the simplicity of the iPhone completely unusable. The simple ability to add text to a photo and file and order system of photos was completely destroyed by some maniacal committee without my ok.

They need to separate the security updates from the functionality updates. Let us pick. Keep the basic photo program they’ve always had and shove the genius ideas in the App Store. If everyone is downloading the app make it part of the software. 10 gen z beta testors in moms basement deciding what everyone gets is crazy

I have no option to start a new thread to also complain about this issue so I have to reply here.

Put the edit button back on photos to function as it did before! This is why I dread updates. Why do they have to mess stuff up that we like and isn’t broken?? I want my photo edit button back 😩😩

Nope, don’t see what you are talking about. There is nothing at all there, just my photo and no other buttons to touch, oh yes there are other buttons , but not what you are showing. The buttons I have are the old ones but does not have a “edit” button at all. No 3 squiggly lines, or any of that. So now what?

I am close to getting a new phone – – I've always bought directly from Apple. This may be enough to send me finally to pixel. I'm assuming that this is Apple's way to make it difficult to use third-party photo apps to keep us in the Apple ecosystem. But you just made my life more difficult. I'm going to vote with my money
