The silents button on the side of my new phone does nothing when pushed. Is there a setting somewhere that needs tobe changed?

Same as mine I regret upgrading this is the worst phone yet. iPhone 14 was the best they should have stopped changing things
It is easy to hold it to turn on the ring, it is easy to accidentally tap that and silent phone... I look for a vibrate or buzz

How did you fix it? Mine isn’t working either. The button is flattened. It doesn’t click when pushed in, and does not silence the phone.

Silent management is GONE, I have to turn it off when on a mandatory silent area
Assuming you haven't changed what the Action button does on your iPhone, long-press the Action button (you should feel the haptic feedback emit three pulses). To confirm that your iPhone 16 is silenced, short press the Action Button. A "Silent" icon should appear in the Dynamic Island to signal the change.

My iPhone 16pro silent button no longer causes the silent on/off action to display. The island window (top middle of the home phone screen) remains black. It used to work fine. Tried a restart, silt the toggle in settings and the action button. All no-go.
Go into setting and you’ll see “action button.” Just scroll to the action you want to use and back out. Should fix the issue.
no any three pulses feeling, after long-press of the action button. However silent icon appears and signalling the changes

action button… and swiped left..there are pic icons of different actions ……
found silent notification there..
