Auto-Correction is changing my words incorrectly after iOS 18 update on iPhone

The only solution is to reset autocorrection settings.

I’m having the same issue - nothing I am typing is working so I’ve had to use predictive text only and hope (it just tried changing that to home?) that after a few letters it catches on to what I am typing. Its driving me crazy.

OMG. Im having the same issue is I same. For the same of leaving this comment, I left all the autocorrect my I phone for so they know what Im talking about. Please for this and soon a a possible.

It’s driving me insane! The bilingual keyboards do not work. No matter if I use the “normal” or the “bilingual” keyboards, it’s incapable of recognising the language I’m typing. This wouldn’t be such a big deal if it didn’t automatically correct every single word to replace it with either the most random word or a word that doesn’t exist?? The autocorrect function is honestly terrible at the moment.

Facing this issue while typing even this text. May it be English words or my bilingual (keyboard corrected it to bilingual to bike) words.

Feels like a downgrade upgrading to ios 18 (I wanted to type “updating”). It also just corrected “type” to “to” and “tips”.

I’m still using 17.7 and autocorrect is maddening. Every time I type the word “in” it is changed to “John”. I have many of the same additional problems mentioned by others. Text Replacement does absolutely nothing. It’s making me crazy. Sometimes I just want to throw this phone in the river. When I just typed the word “want”, it was changed to “was ant”! WTF.

For anyone still experiencing this issue, mine somehow resolved itself sometime last week. No idea how or why, but my texting ease is back to what it was when I was on my 13 pro. No issues. Smooth auto correcting etc.

Me too - just updated it to 18 and it’s crazy. I write in 2 languages on my mobile and usually that was never an issue and the iPhone understood when I wrote in German but now it is correcting literally every single German word to English after I updated my iPhone. It takes triple the amount of time

It’s beyond getting worse as well. I haven’t kept track but autocorrect is not even on the same planet with its “corrections”. It is now constantly misspelling words I spelled correctly. This is absurd. It takes me quite a bit longer to type anything now. Is it really just Apple or is this across the board?

Same autocorrect issue, thought I was going crazy. Using Siri to text seems to be worse too. She used to get grammar right for the most part but today she spelled accept the offer as except the offer and a few more mistakes but that one really stood out.

You are lucky most of the english auto correct options are REAL words. In Spanish it's completely nosense.

Example: "mirando" (looking) replaced by "mirándooslo" (not a word, but close to "Looking at Oslo")

I have this problem as well after upgrading to 18.1 - it’s driving me INSANE!! It’s forced to use iMessage on desktop as I don’t trust my phone for work convos.

I’ve tried restarting my iphone, turning off predictive text, deleting bilingual keyboards. Nothing works. I was thinking about upgrading my phone until I saw this message board. Adding to convo in case anyone solves it.

I’m experiencing the same thing. I thought this would’ve been corrected in the latest update to 18.1 but it hasn’t. I’m experiencing an identical problem with Hebrew as well. It seems that Apple is relying on AI to guess what you really meant even when you explicitly write something else and it is correct. The whole thing is extremely annoying and I hope Apple will take care of this ASAP.
