Auto-Correction is changing my words incorrectly after iOS 18 update on iPhone

Me, too. I have had it off for a month and every time i try to turn it back on my phone becomes unusable. Even with it off, my phone is slow and glitchy. I have half of my space open, every accessibility feature off, every graphic feature off, and nothing will completely fix it.

I’ve been a loyalist to iPhone since 2009 and I am strongly considering switching the whole family to Samsung

I have multiple keyboards and switch languages all the time. However, it’s gotten even worse. Now it randomly chooses Spanish as my default keyboard for no reason and I have to click the globe when I shouldn’t have to. It’s random. No rhyme or reason.

I was hoping the 18.1 update would fix it but bits still terible

Well I’m sure glad it’s not just me! Autocorrect has become a JOKE!! Apple needs to step up their game and fix this! It took way too long to even type this out because of having to fix the autocorrect issues!

I’m having the exact same issues. It is so freaking annoying and takes 3xs as long to type the most simple sentences. I have had to go back and manually correct every sentence. Idk what is going on but this ridiculous.

I did that… And I’ts more time consuming than ever

I run a business and this is a real shame cause I avoid typing actually…!

I’ve never been that disappointed about an apple product… shopping a nee brand now since this post is 2 month old and the couldn’t careless

I’m experiencing the same thing, all the different things you mentioned I have the same problems. It’s becoming really unusable. I rely on voice to text because of my disability, but it’s so frustrating. Using it on Apple recently because the auto correct is not good anymore and has all these problems you mentioned.

Sometimes, when I try to type “almost”, I accidentally type “al,ost”, because the m key is right next to the , key (this is on an iPad with a Bluetooth keyboard). You’d think that it’s obvious what I meant, right? Pretty easy to account for? Well, apparently what I ACTUALLY meant to say was “al,ostensibly” because that’s what autocorrect turns it into as soon as I hit the space bar after the t, BUT IF I WAS TRYING TO TYPE OSTENSIBLY WHY WOULD I TYPE A SPACE TO END THE WORD AFTER THE T???

I have never in my 8 years of being an Apple user struggled to type so much. For example I messaged “Happy thanksgiving bob” once, then every single time I wish someone happy thanksgiving it would assume I’m sending to bob!

but interestingly enough it only corrects my messages after I hit send and on some platforms you can’t edit messages or post. I don’t understand why predictive texting is so bad on the iOS 18 update but this is just a sliver of my experience trying to type recently.

Since I updated my phone this week, the autocorrect has been terrible. I use English and Spanish keyboards. It has corrected simple 4 letter words in English to words that are neither English or Spanish to my knowledge.

OMG !! Me, top!! It an absolutely infuriating & im not when going to made the correction a, be cause THIS is exactly what creator of this post ia taking an out. Do better Apple !! This is such a disappointment

I was brought here after googling the same thing that I’m having issues with. It’s horrible! It will “autocorrect” correctly spelled words into misspelled ones even. It’s been like that since I updated it around the time the 15 came out, and then when I got the 15 plus it’s been worse on the plus. It’s aggravating because I have to message a lot of clients for work quickly and it makes my job harder having to constantly go back and correct my texts.

I have the same or similar problems - told them that these new updates are promising too much too fast. And the ai stuff has caused me to remove as much as possible , as fast as I can. You are telling the truth. Marketing is driving the Apple Ship of Quality. Software should be bullet proof and it certainly is not.

so, is anyone having the issue with autocorrect just not correcting any words? I first noticed it when i was trying to text another iphone user, and literally EVERY word was spelt wrong and would not autocorrect (example, i just wrote “example” to give an example of what is going on and i apparently pressed a K instead of the L, spelling exampke (not to mention, almost every word i just typed was mispelled and im spending way too much time going back to correct them, so its at least legible 🤬)).

BUT, when i texted another iPhone user (and a non iPhone user), the autocorrect feature and predictive text feature, was working. For the same contacts that it wasn’t working for initially, it’s still not working.

AND, now, all of a sudden (when I started writing the second paragraph above) both autocorrect and predictive text JUST started working for the second half of this post. I’m so frustrated with this! Has there been any resolutions? I’ve tried the toggle on/off instructions, even restarted the phone, to no avail
