iPhone 16 Pro Battery Draining Quickly

Iphone 16 pro battery seems so poor. I unplugged my phone at 9:15 am and by 4pm it had only 32% with 3hrs of screen time. I did my 0.5gb update hoping it will extend baterry life and upgrade functionality of my iPhone.

How is it possible? Anyone experiencing bad battery life as well?

I had the exact same issue. Drove me insane. Battery was terrible, especially while phone was idle. Talked to Apple and they said to bring it in for inspection. I reset the phone (not factory reset) and nothing. HOWEVER, I tried a factory reset via my MacBook, and voila! The problem is gone. Battery is now amazing! Charged my phone 20 hrs ago and it still has 71% left. So, factory reset via your computer. My guess is when they installed software there was some type of error when downloading directly to the phone in the beginning. Hope this helps!

I had the same issue and here’s what worked for me:

First, I backed up my iPhone via iCloud. Then, I downloaded the non public version iOS. After that, I connected my phone to my Mac and selected the option to restore it, which wiped the whole phone data and reverted it to the normal, a public ios version. Finally, I restored my data using the iCloud backup.

This process resulted in a significant improvement in battery life.. almost doubling it

I recently got my iPhone 16 Pro on October 27th, and I’m blown away by its battery life. I didn’t charge it for a whole day after I got it, and the battery was still at around 70%. Even the next day, after using WhatsApp, YouTube, Netflix, and other apps, it was still at 60%. Now, it’s been 9 days, and I’ve been using it like crazy. I go to bed each night and plug it in, limiting it to 90% charge. When I wake up in the morning, I can still use it until the end of the night, and I usually have between 45-65% battery left. If I don’t play any games, I’m confident that it will last the whole day with 65% battery.

It is strange. Today I unplugged my 16 Pro from charger at 8:00 AM.

Exactly 8h later i used 35% of the battery (65% is remaining) and I have 3h screen time and 45m idle. I could assume that using the phone with the same pattern I would have 6h screen time and 30% battery remaining which gives me up to 8h screen time with 80% battery usage. And 47% of time I spent on TikTok. Different apps use different amount of battery. Yesterday 35 min phone call with loud speaker, using the screen all time and sharing it with Apple advisor consumed ~8-11% of the battery. Now I know that 1h spent on TikTok consumes like 7-10% of the battery.

I am becoming to tired investigating that and I don't see a pattern yet. Regardless, apple after the call i had with them yesterday claims that it is pretty normal and 8h of screen time should be consider as excellent (maybe not in these words but I get the point).

I’m not a developer, but it seems that the Home Screen turns on a lot with the 16 pro when I don’t want it on…and when I look at my battery usage, that has used a lot of the battery. Can this not be fixed somehow?

Your screen should only be turning on when it receives a Notification. If you have any Social Media apps, then you know that they use the Notification process extensively and each one will run the app in the background to process the Notification. The background process from a Social Media app is much more draining on your battery then a simple notification from Messages when you receive a text. This will consume more battery power even when not using your phone.

When I bought my phone a little more than 2 weeks ago, I had the same problem. I was very dissatisfied. I decided to bring in back to Apple to exchange for another 16pro. I did not want the Max. After a long talk with the rep. I decided to go home and over the weekend perform my usage test with a fully charged battery. I had a few more days left to return it. First I have my phone set-up the way I want. Yes! I followed some suggestions since they made sense. On Saturday Nov 2nd. I woke up with a full charge. I used my phone the way I normally do this included all social media, text taken pictures. At midnight I had 17% battery left. I was very satisfied with that. I have decided to keep it and I have a MagSafe battery charger to take with me just in case. I feel with all the things added to the 16pro including AI. The battery life is what’s to be expected. Of course I would love a much longer battery life but the reality is it’s a cell phone and you can’t compare it to older phones they had far less the capacity then the 16 pro. Do what is right for you. Good luck.
