iPhone 16 pro battery draining fast

It feels like the 16 pro drains battery like crazy. Mine has gone from 95% to 81% in 38 minutes of light use and some picture taking. Phone also gets really hot when using the camera!

Anyone else experiencing this?

iPhone 16 Pro, iOS 18

I got my phone on Monday 30th September (delivered at nearly 9pm) and it took me until the following day to transfer everything from my 14 Pro Max, so I didn't start using it properly until Tuesday 1st October. For 2 days, I experienced this issue (excessive battery drain) and I became particularly annoyed because my phone was seemingly permanently attached to a charger and the battery percentage wasn't going up. As of last night I was considering sending it back as other posts on here suggested that Apple support was reporting no issues with the phones even though almost everyone was experiencing the same fault.

I did notice that there is a software update available - and although it is just 18.0 by all accounts this update is just for new iPhone 16's (all variances). It says it's a security update but once installed, my battery life is significantly better - to the extent that at nearly 11.30am, it's at 91% and I've used it for work calls; listening to an audio book for 30 minutes and playing some games since 6.30am when I took it off a normal overnight charge.

Maybe it was the update or maybe something else (although I didn't do or change anything else in my normal phone usage/routine) but the battery drain issue seems to have been resolved.

Genius Bar appointment told me that battery is fine !( I didn’t go for that- I went for solution- they couldn’t fix it). Apple support hasn’t been of any use!

They don’t know what they are dealing with.

No point in asking to switch off everything and keep fingers crossed.

There is a genuine apple glitch and all consumers of 16 pro will suffer- unless Apple acknowledges and comes up with a plan!

i’ve been using my iPhone 16 Pro for about three weeks.in the beginning, I thought my phone was having battery issues and I tried all the settings So that my battery last for longer, but It did not make much of a difference, so I don’t know what to do now and I’m hardly getting 4 1/2 to 5 hours of screen time, which is very less. Please help me with this. If somebody knows what I can do. I’ve already done all the settings for my days to wake, push notifications with weather, widget app and all other things.

Hello to all, hello Apple marketing, apparently this is not a support issue…

I have the same problem.

The battery drain extremely fast on iPhone 16 Pro.

I have disabled all things possible by iOS. So the phone is not anymore really smart.

The battery continue to drain more than it’s humanly acceptable.

From 80 to 60 in 4 hours, without taking my phone one time in my hands.

From 60 to 45 in 15 minutes on safari, trying to write this comment.

I have checked the battery settings and no more optimisation running.

So Apple marketing, what I have to do? Return my phone? Make some publicity for your phone? Can you please answer to your customers?

Apparently no, if I check this thread.

So next time I don’t buy a new phone here.

Thank you Apple marketing, with my best regards.

Now, it’s time to charge my new 1000$ phone for the 2nd time in the day.

Yes! Mine too! I took it back to the shop the other day, and was told it’s working at 100% battery life but it really isn’t. Two of my friends have 16s too. I was out with them all weekend and on both days, my iPhones battery died and both of theirs were fine. What can be done about this? The whole reason I upgraded from the iPhone 11 to the 16, was because of its battery life, but now I feel like my iPhone 11s battery was better than this. What can be done about this? Can they replace the phone? I feel like I’ve been sold a dodgey one.

I've been having the same problem for three months now, since I bought my iPhone 16 Pro.
I hate it; the battery drains in minutes, even without using the phone.
Did you get any technical support to resolve the issue?
I already want to return the phone.
This is the first time in 15 years of using an iPhone that something like this has happened to me.
I feel very disappointed

Here is my update:

Over time, (after 1 month) my battery is a little bit better, like it can survive a day of light use, but some percentages drains without any reason.

Now Im more "worried" about the out of the box scratch on the back glass, the dust particle in the one mont old phone's camera, the poor fit quality of the camera button's frame, the earpiece’s deeply placed grill, that collect a LOT of dust.

Over all, im soooooo disappointed. Like, I spent 1350$ on that **** phone. Can’t i get quality??

Bdw, im from Hungary. This is not a country that like: “Oops, there is a random apple store.. Lucky mee!”

So I'm pretty helpless rn.
