Voiceover stopped working with Sequoia Update

When I try to use Voiceover in Sequoia is states, "System settings are not responding". Has anyone ran into this issue? Engineering is suppose to be working on it, but I have a special needs son that uses Voiceover often.

Hi kendeebrad

welcome to the Apple (user-to-user) Community!

Re: "Voiceover stopped working with Sequoia Update" :

"System settings are not responding"

Am no expert in this this area, yet your post certainly deserves some response:

If you haven't already, you may want to try restarting the Mac: Eg: Apple menu > Restart. (Deletes temporary files, re-establishes connections, may update recent setting changes, and often restores order if something is not working as expected,)

Also: wondering if you have seen the latest Voice Over User Guide for Sequoia, or whether it may be at all useful right now:

Eg: See the: "Table of Contents" in VoiceOver User Guide for Mac - Apple Support

I am blind and i now have a useless pile of metal and plastic in front pf me because after "upgrading" to macOS 15.0.1 neither my voiceover nor my spoken content is working anymore.

i use an M1/Max Mac Studio.

i have an old Intel Mac Mini and voiceover still works on that with 15.0.1.

so maybe(?) it's the combination of M1 and 15.0.1 that breaks it.

i contacted Apple SUPPORT AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA. they don't even have access to standalone computers to verify the existence of a bug. what kind ofn support is this??

Wow! So sorry.. yes, we usually wait awhile to install new updates but this time we were trying to fix a previous issue and the representative insisted it was due to the update. Well, this update created this issue and they still do not have a clue. I have sent a recording of it happening and files, still no resolution. They could not tell me if we could downgrade back to Sonoma, it had an issues but at least it worked. I will continue to call until they get it resolved.
