iPhone 16 screen blinking purple at low brightness

Having the same issue on my wife’s phone. The screen will light up around the edge different colors and just around the edge in like a rainbow around the whole screen. We both have iPhone 16 plus mine has not had the issue but I have the active screen setting and she dosent. We both have a custom picture screensaver as well. These were purchased together about a month ago, we both have the latest update as well.

I have this problem too! Back in December 2024, I purchased the iPhone 16 and started to have this trouble in January. I attended to the Apple Store and they:

1: changed my screen

2: made me reset my iPhone

3: changed my iPhone

and now, today I switched my old iPhone 16 to the new one and the problem still remains… I don’t now what else to do!

I too observed something similar - The purple-ish tint across the screen (not opaque), more like a purple layer above the current screen with continuous blink/flicker. No lines seen. Remains for about 5-6 seconds before vanishing.

Issue is still present, iOS 18.5, iPhone 16 Pro, my personal wallpaper, not Apple stocked.

I’m having the same problem. I just bought a iPhone 16+ like a week ago and every now and then I’ll look down and my whole screen will be purple and flash and then disappear my phone‘s never cut off but I don’t know what it is, I thought. Maybe I had been hacked or someone was mirroring my screen. Not sure if anyone knows what this is. Could you please help out? Thanks.

Something similar, but no flickering, the screen dims with a purple tone or layer before goes off but it’s static.

I’m thinking this may be related to the iPhone 16 Plus that has the “always active screen” (I think that’s the name) and maybe this is a bug for the iPhone 16 that doesn’t have that capability.

Same problem, but the heating happened in the early days, it get very hot at the point to stop charging to resume later when temperature reached normal levels. It hasn’t happened again but now I’m showing the purple screen issue.

I encountered the same problem on my iPhone 16. It seems to flash most when the screen is about to turn off or is at low brightness. Googled it and it’s apparently a serious issue that indicates hardware and potential software issues.

The iOS 18.1.1. Update seemed to have solved it, but after the 18.2 I noticed again, now I’ve notice a couple of times but not as often; still happen with the stock wallpaper which I like very much; I mean, It’s just such a small issue that I don’t really care, but the idea that it could be a symptom of a larger issue came in to my mind. I think the chance for that are slim. What do you guys think? Should we stop using the stock wallpaper or disregard the issue as unimportant?

I too got the same issue when My mobile is getting to dim mode, little afraid now because it’s just 3 days after my purchase of the brand new iphone 16

I too am also having a similar issue with my iPhone 16. So far apple has launched the iPhone 16 with many bugs and not too mention a key feature of the phone not even being available at launch!
