The subcutaneous fat layer is the deepest layer of the skin and is made up of fat cells and collagen. Your observation is normal and may be an indication of wearing your strap too tight. It’s no different than wearing undergarments that have elastic bands that are too tight. The marks typically disappear after a week or two as the fat layer redistributes itself.

The subcutaneous fat layer may take months to redistribute. The reason is simple, gravity. Your arms hang down and gravity prevents the redistribution of the fat layer. If you have concerns please consult your primary care physician and you may receive a referral to a dermatologist to confirm their diagnosis and layout a course of treatment.
I took my Apple Watch off a month ago because my wrist lost so much volume and it hasn't come back. It looks deformed and isn't getting better.
