New protocols for using Apple Mail with Hotmail accounts

I started a Hotmail email account 8/26/24. As of 10/1/24, my Apple Mail could no longer access the account because it couldn't verify the hotmail account, since it was set up using only account and password at that time.

After finding a prior thread with this title, I was now able to figure out how to proceed. This is the current status of my 3 apple devices with various and up to date OS's.

iphone 13, iOS 17.6.1- now able to connect to hotmail/outlook. I deleted the original account off the phone, then added it back in today, which NOW includes the option for Outlook.com, not just Exchange to set up the account. This option included a new verification/authorization step and AppleMail now works.

MacBook Pro, macOS 11.7.10- now able to connect to hotmail/outlook. I deleted the original account off this device and my iMac, as both were tied via keychain. I then added an Exchange account, using the "Sign In" option, not the set up manually option. This option also include the same new verification step and now AppleMail works. This older OS does not offer the option for Outlook.com.

iMac, macOS 10.13.6- not yet able to connect to hotmail/outlook. This old OS does not offer the options for Outlook.com, or Exchange with the additional account verification step (only email and password fields). I was hoping the keychain would link this iMac to AppleMail access on my MacBook, but no luck yet.

If anyone has any suggestions on getting the keychain to work between the iMac and MacBook, or another workaround, please reply. Otherwise an upgrade to the old iMac may be in order.

Thanks!

iMac 21.5″
