command + I keeps opening mail

Hi,

I can't get to write in italics with command + i on Safari anymore, more specifically when I'm on Gmail on Safari (not an app). I read all the posts on the problem and tried all the tricks but nothing works. I changed the command of "share by email" to a new one and it does show the new shortcut I chose when I go to "File > Share > Share by email" but when I'm on an email on Google, command + i still opens Mail and it's honestly driving me crazy. The worst is that it is completely irregular. Yesterday italics worked just fine and today, they don't anymore.

Has this problem been solved more recently than in 2022?

In Safari, the default behavior for ⌘ i has always been to open the Mail app (File menu > Share > Email This Page). However, if you are composing text in a field the behavior of ⌘ i can be determined by the page code. The Apple Support Communities website (this one) italicizes text that way. Same for boldface ⌘ b and underline ⌘ u.

Safari didn't change; something about Google's web page changed. Contact Google for assistance: Contact a third-party vendor - Apple Support
