Homepod error 312605 (fails upon Homekit setup)

We have 6 homepods (3 minis 3 2nd gen) that are all working fine. The 7th is another 2nd gen that stopped working in an automation for setting white noise. It started just turning on the apple TV instead. Then we tried to just play music on the device and that also failed. It continued to work as an Apple TV speaker until I tried restoring it. The setup seems to properly connect to wifi and icloud (I accept the Terms), but it fails upon HomeKit setup with an 312605 error.

I've tried a multiple times to perform the reset. I've also removed it from my devices via my phone, then unplugged it and it properly moved to the pulsing white light. It's when it tried to complete the add to Homekit setup that it fails.

As another test I removed 1 of the minis and set it up again and the setup worked.

I did finally figure this out last night. It had something to do with Apple TV in the room needing to finish HomeKit setup. All our Apple TVs were already setup, but I have noticed the new TV OS wanted me to select the room again.

I noticed it when I skipped using as an Apple TV speaker in the Homepod setup. This allowed setup to complete. Then when I went into the ATV settings I noticed the additional step to select the room again. It was something to do with selecting Apple TV speaker in the initial Homepod setup then the ATV in the room needing to be assigned to the room again randomly.

If you have this issue skip adding as an ATV speaker in initial setup and see if that allows it to complete.
