iPad password fails to verify following update to v18.0.1

I just finished applying the update to v18.0.1 on my iPad8 (8th Generation). Everything seems to have gone just fine *except*... it keeps asking me to "Confirm iPad Passcode". But no matter how many times I try, the warning remains. There is no error message, there is no "Verification Failed" message, nothing!

I seem to recall having this same issue after applying the v18.0 update, but after 2 or 3 tries it seemed to accept it and the warning notice went away. However, this time I've tried about 6 times so far, and it fails to accept the password.

If your iPad password fails to verify after updating to iPadOS v18.0.1, there are a few steps you can take to resolve this issue. This is a common problem that may occur after a system update, and it can often be fixed with some troubleshooting. Here are several things you can try

1. Restart Your iPad

  • Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches after an update.
  • Hold the Power button and either Volume button until you see the power-off slider, then slide to power off.

I'd already tried that, but I just did it again, and once again nothing has changed.

And again, I'll repeat -- I don't see any indication that the iPad is *failing* to verify. Everything seems to be working just fine... it's just that the "Confirm iPad Passcode" warning notice won't go away after entering my password. Once I've entered the password and tapped the "Sign In" option, I see a spinner for a couple of seconds, and I end up back at the "Confirm iPad Passcode" screen. But from there, I'm able to do just about anything, adjust any settings, launch apps, etc, without any problems. I just can't get the "Confirm iPad Passcode" and the Red dot on the Settings icon to go away.

And for extend my previous message(s)... I just updated my iPhone11 to the current v18.0.1, and the very same @#$%^ thing has happened to me again... following the seemingly successful update, it keeps telling me that I need to "Confirm iPhone Passcode"... yet once again, no matter how many times I enter my password, the red dot and warning message just won't go away, despite not getting *any* error messages or verification failure notices. <sigh>

As a follow-up, after entering my Apple password a couple more times in an effort to get the red dot and warning message to go away, I tried shutting the phone down and re-starting it... but the red dot and warning was still there.

However, after a couple more rounds of tapping Settings, then tapping the 'Confirm iPhone Passcode' warning, then tapping 'Continue', then entering my password, then tapping the 'Sign In' option, the iOS *DID* finally decide to accept it, and the red dot and warning message *finally* went away. Hopefully for good!

Having this very same thing happen on 2 different, albeit older, devices now, I can't imagine that I'm the only user out here who is running into this issue. (?)
