Apple Music cancels The Beatles

I do not sync my music library in Apple Music on any of my devices because doing this sucks the music off my iPhone. So I keep my ALEC music on my iMac and transfer it to my iPhone each time I upgrade. I just got an iPhone 16 Pro and I transferred all of my music library to the new phone. I ripped all this music from my CDs years ago.

All is well, except that searching on “The Beatles” or “Beatles” in Artists in my Apple Music library on my iPhone returns zero results. I can search the names of any of The Beatles albums and those albums appear. The 517 Beatles songs I have on my phone are playable only if I find them by searching on the album or song name.

I can search in Artists for any other artist whose music I own and it works fine.

When the alpha list of songs in Apple Music on my iPhone is sorted by artist name, and The Beatles songs do not appear on the list. Same with the alpha list of albums—the Beatles albums are missing. If I change the sort options in albums or songs to title instead of artist, the Beatles albums and songs magically appear on the alpha lists.

Any suggestions to restore The Beatles to the same searchable status as other artists on my iPhone would be appreciated.

I am not seeing any problems with searching in the Artist view.

As for sorting, did you look under the 'B's? On my iPhone, both the Artist view and the Song view sort artist names as though the leading "The " in "The Beatles" did not exist.

In some respects, our configurations are similar. I have an Apple Music subscription – but like you, I am using Sync Library. All of the Beatles tracks on my phone are from my own CDs. On the other hand, my iPhone is running iOS 17.7. Because you have an iPhone 16 Pro, it must be running iOS 18 or iOS 18.0.1. I wonder what other people who are using iOS 18, and music from their own CDs, are seeing.
