Pointer in Final Cut hard to use on timeline

I find when I am trying to adjust a clip on the timeline, or add an audio fade, the pointer flickers and jumps so much that it makes it really hard to do these simple tasks. Why is this happening and how can this be avoided? Link to video, just below.

I do not use color, but I do use a cursor that is larger than the default size - that part does not seem to cause problems. I do sometimes have difficulty selecting the fade handle, but I never had flickering, just that it is (sometimes) hard to precisely point at the right location. The height at which we place the cursor seems to need to be at very precise level for it to activate. Once the fade handle is sufficiently away from the edge of the clip, it will have a similar "competition" for activation vs the volume handler. One can easily get into an irritating dance before we can actually grab it.

Over the years, the use of colored cursors has been known to cause a few problems. Maybe this is one of them, maybe not, but it is worth considering.
Try removing color from the cursor in System Settings->Accessibility->Display, by clicking the "Reset Colors"
button, and see if this helps. If there is no change, you can color it back.

Ah, thank you, this has helped. My pointer was coloured green and a little bit larger than default. I set it back to default and the flickering has improved considerably. Having said that, I still find it hard to grab the audio to add an audio fade. It keeps wanting to grab the clip end to change the length. Is there a keyboard option to make it do one thing or the other? Am I the only one who finds grabbing the audio fade tricky?

Having gone to default, I have now enlarged the pointer and it seems okay, but agree that it is always tricky to try to get the pointer to grab what you want. I wish there was a keyboard option to lock in one use or another. That would make things so much easier as I often am fumbling to grab what I mean to grab. As you say, a kind of competition for one or the other.
