iPhone 16 Pro Max Screen Occasionally Displays Glitch Lines

I was getting the lines and glitches. They got worse after the last software update. I really tried to be kind, patient and understanding with Support reps who weren't seeing my issue (it wasn't happening as frequently when I first reported it). After 3x visits the the apple store, I took a break from contacting support for a while. I was turned away at the store and basically told there is nothing they could do because it "was a software issue." They reached this verdict because they changed my screen once and I still had the issues. I did a factory reset and I was still having the issues. This time though, the rep got to see it glitch with his own eyes while I was there. I was told to download an app on my phone and log my issues when they occurred.

Nothing happened for 2 months. I decided to reach out to chat support and told them how many times I've been given the runaround. I got to talk to a supervisor who was kind enough to offer me a replacement phone in the mail.

I've had my replacement going for 5 days now and I haven't seen a single line/glitch. I used my iCloud phone backup to set up the phone--something that the Apple Genius(...) store rep insisted was causing my issues even after I told him I had done a factory reset.

After a major headache (brand new phone with unexplained issues, and being treated like I was doing something wrong), I finally got a replacement iPhone 16 Pro Max that works properly.

However, I noticed that the bug appears only and exclusively when the always on display is activated with the “show background” option disabled.

Hoping for a bug fix. In the meantime I solved it by reactivating background option.

It looks like the flickering occurs only with the default iPhone 16 wallpaper. After changing the wallpaper to some static image I don‘t have the flickering any more.

iOS 18.3 does not fix it sadly, I had apple replace my phone and the problem is still happening. Something I did notice is that after replacing the phone, the issue did not happen until I installed an app with live activities. I think live activities apps with the always on display might be triggering it.

A replacement solved my issue and from what i read in Reddit there are 3 iPhone 16 Pro Max display suppliers LG, Samsung, And third one, The problem happens with iPhones with LG displays.

I got a replacement iPhone 16 pm in the Apple Store. The new one doesn’t have the aod screen glitch.

After disabling always on display the issue went away

Replaced the screen and do it again. IStorm and apple help at Greece suggested to program it as “new phone” cause maybe is a bug from previous apps. UNEXCEPTABLE!!! 2 weeks now and I’m trying to get the phone to same position.

The glitch didn’t appear again… But let’s give it time!

I called sales team and explained the problem so they said they will fetch the faulty device and dispatch me a new one. You should request the replacement as early as possible because later may be they will not replace it

Issue gone by disabling always on display.

At this point we are pretty sure it is a software problem.

Now we just have to make Apple understand it. ^_^;

I have the same problem with my iPhone 16 Pro Max. Turning off AOD solved it.

I bought a one terabyte 16 Pro Max and transferred to green my data from my 14 Pro Max. The glitches started from the get-go. Would be totally random and very quick. But still very annoying. I messaged apple and they said to return the phone since the new update didn’t fix anything. I returned the phone transferred my new data and the glitches are still happening. Must be a software thing. I will try to turn off the always on display.

After Update to iOS 18.1, I have noticed it’s been fixed.
