iPhone 16 Pro Max Screen Occasionally Displays Glitch Lines

Same issue, called phone support and they did a remote diagnostic and my phone hardware was fine.

they scheduled me to an apple store to have my phone replaced as an option but from the looks of it, that wont solve the issue.

turned off my always on display, hope issue will disappear

Update: 18.1.1 is working ok, it is not happening to me since I’ve updated.

what I’m having troubles with is with apps freezing, like telegram, but it’s the only app I have that does that so it might be just that one. So I’ll wait for an update to come and find out.

other than that the screen glitches are gone for now, even with the always on display activated.

I am facing the exact same issue right out of the box, and I was in the Facebook Messenger app when I first noticed it. My brain straight away went to thinking this is a hardware issue. Later, I realised it could also be caused by bugs in the display driver. I had a chat with Apple support. They asked me a bunch of questions and told me you could take it to an Apple Authorised Repair Center where they could inspect it and maybe offer a replacement. I am not very keen on getting the display replaced on my brand-spanking new phone. It hurts my heart. If they are going to give me a brand-new replacement, I am okay with it. I was waiting for a software update to fix it. Yesterday, I completed the 18.2.1 update. While the phone software feels smoother, I have today noticed on two occasions random flashes of vertical lines. This time, white in colour. I have seen in the past all colour combos. Green white, mix, etc. I am still unable to pinpoint if it’s a hardware or a software issue. A software issue doesn’t bother me so much.

This is it. This was driving me mad and can confirm disabling 5g and sticking to 4g made the issue disappear. Such a shame. It’s unbelievable Apple did not acknowledge they are having an hard time with 5g for a 1500EUR phone.

I’ve had this issue from day one. Less than a month old. Funny o spoke to apple care on the phone and they said they do not have records of this being an issue yet when you google search this issue it is extremely coming and reported on nearly every forum page.

The only fix I have found was getting a replacement and hoping that the new one doesn’t have the same issue. Sounds like a 50/50 chance based on what I’ve read.

This is unacceptable for a 1k phone purchase.

Same. Turn always display to off. It will fixed the issue

Ive had the same issue. I thought i was imagining things but then it happened frequently. Just turned off my Always On display for now, lets see how it goes. - 16 Pro Max

Having the same issue, I checked the comments apparently turning off always on display may help, try doing that.

i checked on my wife’s iPhone 16 pro max 256 white and she doesn’t have this bug…

it seems like this is not a Software bug, but defective batch of screens… if it’ll be software, everyone would have faced with this issue

I have had the same issue being described by everyone here. Taking it to apple store today, will provide an update.

Also going to try turning off the always on display that people suggest is the fix to the problem.

My first iPhone 16 PM had touch responsiveness issues and it wasn’t because of the screen protector and sometimes i would get vertical lines one the display when it wakes from the always one display, At first i thought it was a software glitch specially after reading many complaints of the same and many people getting the same problem even after getting a replacement iPhone, For me my replacement iPhone 16 PM had no such issues screen is very responsive just like any iPhone I’ve owned in the past and the vertical lines are gone as well, So i’m 100% confident it’s a hardware issue.

I have same issue for my iphone 16 pm

they brought my phone to the factory and substitute the screen to the new one

after 2 days the issue is back

they asked me to reset my phone if still happen

it must send to the factory for the second time

Been there done that. They replaced my phone and it still does it. Has to be a software issue. Hopefully an update soon will fix it.

I’ve turned mine off too now and seems to be OK. Sounds like software bug so hope it’s fixed soon as like to have always-on display on

I had a similar situation. After updating to 18.2, I haven't seen any glitches yet.
