Unable to access Whatsapp on Macbook

New Iphone SE (2022 Version) Purchased from Apple Store Bangkok Thailand February 2024

Didn't set up touch id. Didn't need it. But now Whataspp for Macbook on browser no longer linking to iphone Now need to use touch id to link but cannot as says need to authenticate to be able to add fingerprint.

No way to authenticate. Phone is only 8 months old. Clean. But now unable to continue to use Whataspp on my laptop as the phone is clearly not working. Reading the community notices I see lots of other people have same problem. What's going on? Can anyone help.

Thank you for clarifying. As to your Touch ID problem, I don't know what Apple Support had you try but perhaps there's a step here that wasn't done that would help:

If Touch ID isn't working on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If nothing works, then as the article advises you'll probably need to take your iPhone to an Apple Store or authorized Apple service provider for further assistance.

As to the problem with WhatsApp, since I don't use it I can't offer any advice. I would again suggest you take up the issue with WhatsApp support.

Regards.

Hi, thanks. Yes my problem is that when I bought the phone at apple store in February they set it up for me including adding a fingerprint for Touch ID. I had forgotten that I had done this because I had never needed to use it and didn’t realize it was now controlling various aspects of my phone eg stolen phone protection. Now, however, because WhatsApp have changed their desktop interface I am unable to link my phone in able to access my WhatsApp on my MacBook without authorization from my phone. Which wants my fingerprint apparently. But now when I try to use my fingerprint it doesn’t recognize it. I spent an hour on the apple help chat line and have established that I did in fact set up a finger print back in February when I bought the phone. But now I can’t get my phone to recognize that it is me. Every time I try to use my fingerprint it isn’t happy and activates stolen phone protection which locks me out of trying again for an hour. I am stuck. How can I get my phone to understand it is my finger print so I can delete it and never wish to use Touch ID again. I really just want my WhatsApp desktop to work. Thinking about putting my sim in my previous old iPhone (where Touch ID was not functioning) and try to link this way to WhatsApp desktop. What do you think. And more importantly what do I have to do to wipe this fingerprint on this phone so it doesn’t get in my way again. Thank you so much
