M2 Max Mac studio with Sonos Arc Soundbar Setup.

I’m using an Apple Studio M2 Max and a Sonos Arc without any sub or surrounds, connected to an LG TV through HDMI eArc.

I need help setting up MacOS’s “Audio Midi Setup” program.

Currently I use the format: 6ch 24 bit integer 48.0 kHz and have the speakers configured as 5.1

if I choose 8ch 24 bit integer 48.0 kHz I can configure the speakers as Atmos 5.1.2

but when I try to apply this, I get an “Overlapping Channels” error.

I've also noticed that the format changes back to 2 ch stereo by itself.

Does anyone know what setting I should be using in Audio MIDI Setup for the best sound?

Ah, Ashkevron, looks like it supports Dolby Atmos through Apple Music and selected tracks only… thru headphones or doesn’t look like it supports Dolby Atmos systemwide ( hopefully I’m wrong on this) … you could get an HDMI adapter that does offer audio extraction with Dolby Atmos pass through… the best you might be able to get is Dolby digital 7.1… Amazon says OREI HDA-912 might work.. for audio midi try using Encoded audio…

Thanks for the reply. I also hope you're wrong :-)

I've had a look at the OREI HDA-912 it seems the Audio MIDI Setup App lets you choose different outputs which does change the sound coming through the Sonos Arc. I'm just not sure I get the best version of that sound. I'll need to look into it more. HopefullyI stumble across someone who has the same setup and has worked it out.
