Am no expert in this area, yet your post deserves some response.

Seems screenshots are automatically saved, so you shouldn't need to do anything to save them.

They should be saved into a Photos folder. so perhaps you haven't located the screenshots yet.

Wondering where in Photos app you are looking:

After opening Photos,

scroll down to Media Types,

tap Media Types,

then tap Screenshots.

If you already looked there, or you do not see the screenshots there when you look:

Apple shows two different ways to take screenshots, so whether or not you have FaceID matters:

It is possible your accessibility settings may need changing in order to take screenshots in Assistive Access.
