Hi.

Apple are (quite rightly) trying to ensure you did not steal it! It sounds like it's still logged into the original owner's Apple Account (Apple ID) and it won't let you log off until you prove it is now your MacBook.

If you're unable to obtain proof of ownership or contact the previous owner, you may need to consider returning the MacBook to the seller. Explain that the device is not "as described" since you can't fully use it due to the previous owner's account being active.

Apple will not be able to help you since you are not the original owner. Getting the original receipt from the original purchaser will almost certainly not work since the name on the receipt and yours will not match.

As the other poster said, your best option at this point is to return the Mac to the seller and get your money back. If the seller will not cooperate and you didn't buy through a site that offers buyer protection (as eBay often does, for instance), then it's quite likely that you have indeed lost your money. This is an unfortunate but all-too-common situation when purchasing a used Apple device when you cannot inspect the device yourself to confirm that it's been properly set up for resale.

Regards.
