I got a new MacBook Air a few months ago. It is updated with the latest software version. Before I did the update I could use my iPhone 14 hotspot for internet access. Since updating to the new Mac software I cannot do this any more. My cell signal is good my personal hotspot on my phone

You have the same symptoms I had prior to macOS Sequoia 15.1 and iOS 18.1: hotspot connects but no internet.

Sorry but I'm not sure what the issue could be on your end. I just did a test with to macOS Sequoia 15.1.1 and iOS 18.1.1 and I'm still getting internet with the hotspot.

Can you try your iPhone hotspot on another Mac to see if the issue is with the Mac? Don't try with a device like an iPad; my iPad could get internet with the hotspot prior to iOS 18.1.

I use McAfee and ExpressVPN, but even turning those off/shutting them down doesn't correct the problem. The error message changes from ...can't access the internet... to Safari can't find the server. I've tried reinstalling Sequoia and no change. If I "forget" the hotspot when I try to reconnect it appears to reconnect but doesn't prompt for the password, even though I changed it. It's as if something is not reseting properly. I might change the name of hotspot to see that does it.

The frustrating part is the hotspot worked fine with McAfee and ExpressVPN until a couple of IOS and MacOS upgrade ago.
