Monitor for New Mac Mini?

Hi My Apple Peeps,

So, I pulled the trigger on a new Mac Mini. I was looking on Ebay for awhile and was looking for a M2 with 24 GB, but they almost cost as much as a M4! I ordered the 24 GB with 512 SSD. Should serve me for a long time.

Now, regarding the monitor. I been using a LG for about a decade with my Mac Mini 2012. It serves me well and have no complaints. However, since the M4 has the latest technology, I'm wondering if I should update my monitor to take advantage of the new Tech? Do you guys think it's a good idea to update the monitor?

Thanks and Have a great day!!

There's not really that much in the way of new tech as such as regards monitors themselves, so just because your monitor is older isn't any real reason to replace it. If you're satisfied with the size, resolution, and image quality of your current monitor, then I'd suggest just staying with it. Otherwise, think about what your current monitor doesn't give you that a newer monitor might - more ports, or better gaming performance, etc. - and then you can decide from there whether it's worth buying something different.

Again, if you're satisfied with what you get from your LG, there's probably little reason to change. But 4k monitors, which would give you significantly higher resolution, have come down a lot in price over the last couple of years, so you might think about one of those. There are a plethora; you can start by looking at the reviews on Rtings.com.

Thanks @varjak paw!

I appreciate your answer.

I wasn't sure if the video quality changed a lot since I bought my monitor. I follow the adage: "If it ain't broke...".

Also, I just use it for office type tasks and streaming...

Actually here is info on my current monitor:

LG FLATRON ( model# M2362D)

Specs:

  • Size. 23" (58cm) Wide.
  • Aspect Ratio. 16:9.
  • Resolution. 1920 x 1080.
  • Brightness. 300 cd/m2 (Typical)
  • Contrast Ratio. 50,000:1 DFC.

Thanks again!
