2007 Imac 27inch as a display?

Can I use a 27 inch 2007 Imac as a display for a newer Laptop?

I don't think so.

  • There are no 27" 2007 iMacs. The first 27" iMac came out in Late 2009.
  • No iMac released before 2009 supports Target Display Mode, so a 24" Mid 2007 iMac would not.
  • The 27" Late 2009 and 27" Mid 2010 iMacs support Target Display Mode using Mini DisplayPort input.
  • The 27" Mid 2011, 27" Late 2012, and 27" Late 2013 iMacs support Target Display Mode using Thunderbolt input.
  • None of the 27" 5K Retina iMacs (those released from Late 2014, on) support Target Display Mode at all.

Finally, Apple added restrictions that mean that no modern Mac can use any iMac as a Target Display. See the bad news here: Use your iMac as a display with target display mode - Apple Support .
