They work fine in FCP 10.8.1, so I had to revert to it for now, as I am using this kind of HEVC slomo files in several projects. When you create optimized media, they are displayed correctly, but I don't want to create these giant files if I don't have to...
Anyone else having encountered this bug, or found a workaround without creating optimized media?
I hope this will be fixed in the next update!

@iHeimo, you are correct. The clips themselves if loaded to a new FCP 11 library are OK. The problem happens during the library upgrade of a prior FCP version to FCP 11. It also happens if you export a 10.8.1 library XML or project XML containing those clips and load that to an FCP 11 library.
So a workaround is to stay on 10.8.1. If work was already done on the FCP 11 library, you can export a prior-version (1.12) library XML and load that on 10.8.1. That should preserve all the clips and projects.
I tested Sony XAVC-S and XAVC-HS 100.0 fps and 120 fps files and those work OK after upgrading to FCP 11. Another user reports a Nikon Z9 clip turns black but he has not told us the clip specs or uploaded a clip to examine.
I am investigating how the problem happens....
The file plays correctly for me in FCP 11 in Sequoia on an Intel MBP.

Yes, they do, as noted in my original post. That's why I reverted back to FCP 10.8.1 for now. Please note: Tom has an Intel Mac, I have an M1 Max.
The file works for me on both systems Intel and Apple. The Apple Silicon is an M1 MBP. I don’t have to optimize.
Mine is an M1 MAX. It works just fine in FCP 10.8.1, but not in FCP 11! If one of the FCP developers contacts me, I am willing to send you my system report/configuration file, if that helps.
It would seem very Duane that it would work in an M1 Pro and not a Max. I think there’s something else going on with the system.
It works even correctly with Quick Look in the Sequoia Finder...
I have seven Macs of various types, including an M1 Max MacBook Pro 16. If you can post the GH6 file where I can download it, I will test it on all of them and analyze the problem.

I didn’t have to trash the settings. I guess mine were ok to start with. Hopefully it will fix Helmo’s problem
