The wallpaper will not change. How do I change the wallpaper?

I followed the steps to change the wallpaper and it won't change. I am trying to change to my own pictures and it won't change. I come here and see many had the same issue a year ago in 2023. It is now 2024 and I can't change the wall paper. I have Sequoia 15.1 why is this still an issue. Any have an insights or updates. I have changed the wall paper many times but for some reason it won't change now. It's stuck on an apple wallpaper of trees and won't change.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 15.1

Just repeating that "it doesn't work" isn't helpful. Are you trying to use your pictures from the Photos app or a folder on your Mac? Like lkrupp, I have no problem changing wallpapers on three different Macs running Sequoia.

Some of the Wallpaper images need to be downloaded first. Depending on the bandwidth on your connection it could take awhile. This is exactly what I experienced. For what it's worth I have no problem changing Wallpaper on my macOS 15.1 installation, None whatsoever. So trying to inflate this to every user having this problem is not logical. If it were truly a bug then it would be plastered all over the various Apple tech blogs. By the way, counting hits on Google and Reddit does not count as verification of a bug.


So click on a Wallpaper image and wait to see if a downloading icon appears in a few seconds.
