Not a lot to go on with your post, so I'm going to respond to it in a more general manner.
The "Accessory May Not Be Supported" or "Accessory Prevents Charging" message on your iPhone typically appears due to compatibility or power issues between the phone and the connected accessory or charging cable.
As such, what have you tried, so far yourself, to resolve this?
For example:
I'm glad you got it worked out.
I think it’s the Tom/Tom GPS in the rental car — it detected the iPhone and linked to Google maps that I had referenced. Won’t “unsync.”
Tesserax, ty. I fortunately brought another Firewire cable: newer and possibly Apple. Used the base w/ USB provided by the hotel and it worked. Now all charged up. Good advice!
