Don’t know if it was a software update or not. But the Apple TV remote used to turn on both the Apple TV and The Samsung. Then it stopped. Tried a cold re3start, plugging and unplugging the same HDMI that worked before. No dice. Checked to see that the HDMI-CEC is set on BOTH devices. No go. This is very annoying. Anyone have a solution?

Thanks for the hint. This resulted in allowing me full control over the Apple TV including power on and having the Samsung select the ATV all with the Samsung remote but the Apple remote still does not turn on the TV when I power on the Apple TV.
Still not as it was.
I have a Panasonic TV (tele) so I cannot match you exactly, My way of working is that my tele maybe in standby, so when the ATV is turned (with the remote), then the ATV in turn commands the tele to come out of standby and selects the correct HDMI. If I turn off the ATV the tele returns to standby. When watching tele (Sky) and the ATV is turned on with the remote, tele then switches to the correct HDMI.

Go into your Settings, select Remotes and Devices, scroll down to Home Cinema Control, turn on Control TVs and Receivers. That should do it.
