Purchased a storage locker with a MacBook Pro in it, how do I check if it’s stolen or a company’s property?

my father and I purchased a storage locker via online auction, and are now in possession of a MacBook Pro 2021, it’s been refurbished, and password reset how do I check to see if it’s stolen/ lost, if it’s been sold off from the company, and if it is a company’s property how do I return it? Final question if its been purchased from a third party ( the auction platform) am I potentially considered in possession of stolen property?

Turn it into local lost and found or the police. It is of no value to you.

You can not get the previous owner's contact information. Turn it into lost and found or the police. There is no way you can use a computer that was not properly prepared for resale/gifting.
