FWIW, "Fit to screen" is now simply called "Fill" in the Window menu. You can also press Control+Globe+F

It's possible to "Zoom" into the screen in various degrees without switching to Full Screen. Which apparently you did based on your original post…

That is the symptom of Zooming into the screen.

Check System Settings > Accessibity > Zoom to see what your settings are.

Even the oldest MBA from 2020, that qualifies to tun macOS 15 Sequoia, have Supported scaled resolutions

From your description, it seems the computer maybe using a Scaled Resolution that is too Large

A screen shot would help, because I'm not having the issue on my M1 MacBook Air.

Normally I have my M1 MBA set to Default but I don't have the problem with the screen set to 1280 x 800.

As I mentioned before, you had zoomed in accidentally apparently. When you changed resolution it was no longer "zoomed". When you switched back, it was also no longer "zoomed".

FWIW, this indicates you have zoomed into the screen.

Why it worked before and set at 1280 x 800 ?

Perhaps @dialabrain who is working on a similar machine has insights ?

The Supported Scaled Resolutions for this machine are MacBook Air (M1, 2020) - Technical Specifications

• 1680 by 1050
• 1440 by 900
• 1024 by 640

Being partially sighted, seeing what one needs to see is very very important

It's difficult to explain in text but perhaps a screen shot will demonstrate what zooming into the screen means.
