How can I ensure an eSIM is deleted via AC2

I am managing my companies iPhone/iPad fleet and to ensure all data is removed before handing a device from one user to another, I created a bash script to track the restore of iPhones/iPads. To check if the eSIM was deleted I used the ICCID value.

Formerly, deleting the eSIM via Apple Configurator "Erase all contents and Settings" and check the "delete eSIM" checkbox resulted in the ICCID being deleted, but recently the ICCID remains.

Is there a way to check on a not-activated not-enrolled iPhone/iPad if any eSIM subscription is still present?
