Apple External DVD/CD Drive 'Not Permitted' issue

I am using the Apple external DVD/CD drive connected via USB.

When I try to click on one of the menu items on the DVD I get the "not permitted" seen in the top left corner.

Eventually the DVD will start playing on its own but if I click on one of the menu choices I get the "Not permitted" again.

All advice is appreciated.

Those DVDs are dated from 1995 to 2010 and may not be fully compatible with later macOS versions.

I would check with Alfred for compatibility and/or a digital download version.
