There is zero harm...
The rule of thumb—if you are near the mains leave it plugged in, if you need the portability then run on the battery only—this is how you help optimize your battery charging and extend the working life of your battery by reducing the cycle count.

The MacBook's charging circuitry will automatically cut off charging when it deems it best for the life of the battery based on usage and charging patterns. "Optimized Charging" may stop the charging before it hits 100% charged, or it may allow the charge all the way to 100% percent. But either way, it's all managed and so leaving it connected to the charger, as Leroy said, does no harm.
If you disconnect the charger so the Mac is running on battery, then of course the issue doesn't apply at that point.
Regards.
I'm understanding OP's question as: Is it okay to keep device plugged into power source when device's battery is 100% full.
So, not understanding how there's zero harm if running on battery only (unplugging device) "help[s] [to] optimize your battery charging and extend the working life of your battery."
