Syncing LRcat file and images from Mac to iCloud

Current scenario

I have the latest Mac OS on my desktop and am using LR Classic (not web version).

Currently all my photos and LRCat file sit on my PC in Location A.

I am thinking of syncing all my photos and LRcat file to the iCloud.

When I am in Location B, using a laptop, if edits were done on the LRCat file on my desktop in Location A, will the changes in my LRCat file be reflected in my laptop at a different location?

Thank you!

If you sync your LRcat file and photos to iCloud, the edits made at Location A can be reflected on your laptop at Location B, but there are some things to keep in mind:

  1. iCloud Syncing:
  2. iCloud will sync the files, but this depends on having enough storage and a reliable internet connection at both locations.
  3. Keep LRcat Updated:
  4. Make sure Lightroom Classic is closed before iCloud syncs the LRcat file. If it's still open, the changes might not upload correctly.
  5. Sync Delay:
  6. Edits will appear on your laptop only after iCloud finishes syncing both the LRcat file and associated photos. The speed depends on the size of your files and internet speed.
  7. Use Lightroom CC for Easier Sync:
  8. Lightroom Classic isn’t designed for direct cloud syncing. If syncing between devices is important, consider using Lightroom CC instead, as it works seamlessly with Adobe’s cloud.
  9. Backup Before You Start:
  10. Always keep a local backup of your LRcat file and photos, just in case something goes wrong during syncing.
